Description: Blacksmithing is the art of working with heated metal. In this one-day workshop, discover the basics of blacksmithing to create your own decorative metal item or sculpture. You’ll learn basic metallurgy & weld shop safety, how to cut metal, basic forging, & how to use blacksmithing tools, such as an anvil, hammer, tongs and punch, and practice skills such as drawing out, brazing, cutting, riveting, and upsetting. Note: students must wear leather boots or shoes & long denim pants for this class. Safety helmets, safety glasses, gloves and jackets will be provided for use during the class.
