Description:
|
Interested in writing a short story but stuck on ideas? In this new workshop, you will use a process of discovery to transform the rich content of your own experiences, memories and cast of real-life characters into compelling fiction. We will explore elements of what makes a short story great by reading stories written by a diverse mix of writers, and by reading interviews and essays where authors reveal where and how their story ideas originate. You will be led through in-class exercises meant to hone technique, and by the end of the class you'll have completed a rough draft of a short story for peer and instructor feedback. This class is for beginning as well as intermediate writers interested in short stories.
