Description:
|
In this new 4-session workshop, the mandolin, guitar, fiddle, bass, banjo, and dobro are all welcome. Although the class is designed to accompany the beginning mandolin group class, all acoustic instruments are welcome. The focus will be on developing group playing skills in a coached bluegrass ensemble format. We'll work on smooth transitioning of basic chords, finding the melody and basic improvising, fine-tuning timing in 4/4 and 3/4 time, practicing listening for cures in other instruments, how to transition from lead to backup playing, communicating in tab and music notation, perfecting ear training skills, singing, and basic harmony vocals. A songbook will be provided as a starting point, and students are encouraged to bring in a song or two as well.
