Description:

In this new course, for those new to music or who've not previously played a musical instrument, Betsy O'Malley will help you step through the basics at an easy pace. Tuning will be one step below standard to soften tension. Basic music theory will be covered while learning simple "fiddle" tunes - i.e., traditional country dance melodies from Ireland, Scotland, and Appalachia - as well as chords for a common folk song. Note: for those with no access to an instrument, the instructor has rental mandolins available. Rental fee for the 2 month duration of the class is $50, payable to instructor Betsy O'Malley.
