The Arborist Apprenticeship is a U.S. Department of Labor program sponsored by individual Tree Care companies. The Front Range Community College training program is the Related Learning portion of the apprenticeship. It is a two-year program, consisting of approximately 80 hours online and 60 field hours for Year One and 80 hours online and 108 field hours for Year Two. The training program is meant to be matched up with on-the-job training at the site of a Tree Care employer. The tuition for the Year 1 (Part 1) is $2,500. However, for Year One of 2022-23 the tuition is covered through a Workforce Training Grant through the Skill Advance Program, Colorado Community College System and Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Participants will only be charged a $50 registration fee. Tuition for the second year will be $2,500. Only students who have applied and have been accepted in the program can register.
